I’m not really keen on the numbers, partly because I understand that they clash with the ones issued by ERA, and I would have liked to have seen the numbers starting after 1148, where the old series ended, but apparently the new number series is intended to prevent owners of 1960s GT40s feeling too uncomfortable about these very high quality new ones. Also, I am not enamoured of the names being used: “Superformance” and “HiTech” (the latter from the manufacturer’s name) don’t, in my view, do justice to this excellent car. Personally, I would have labelled them as “MkVI”, but that could well have led to a head-to-head with Ford, who own that name. So how about MkIC and MkIIC?
