Few visitors to this site will need reminding of Alan Mann’s place in GT40 history. In 1966 his lightweight red and gold Mark Is were the fastest of all the small-block GT40s, and one of his Mark IIs led the early stages of the Le Mans 24 hours that year. Now he’s renewed his connection with GT40s, by taking delivery of one of the superb Continuation cars built by HiTech, and also known as Superformance GT40s. What better recommendation of the Continuation cars could there be than for somebody who owned and managed a works Ford GT40 team in 1966 to buy one of the new cars? The pictures here show Nigel Hulme handing over the GT40’s keys to its proud owner. Recalling the Alan Mann Racing team’s halcyon days, the car is suitably adorned with additional white stripes as worn in 1966 by AMR/1 at Sebring and Le Mans.
