It’s not very often that a Sbarro-built GT40 comes on the market, and we’re delighted to be able to offer this superb example.  It has chassis number 1023/2079, and the Sbarro paperwork which comes with it shows that its build incorporated many of the mechanical parts (including suspension, engine and gearbox) taken from the original GT40P/1023 during the early 1980s.

It was completed in 1982, has a 289 engine dynoed at 360BHP, a ZF gearbox, and a Sbarro-built chassis, which is generally accepted as being as strong as an original from Ford. We’re told its weight is just 907kg, thanks to using the same grade steel as an Abbey Panels tub, and the type of welding rods used, so it should be quite competitive.  It’s not an original Ford GT40, of course, but there’s precious little in it that’s different from one.

What’s more, it has that so-very-important document - an FIA Historic Technical Passport!  And if that’s not enough - the price has just been reduced!

So, it’s eligible to go vintage-racing in Europe, right now.  It’s in the EU, is tax paid, and has a full history.  If you’d like further information about this delightful GT40, just send us an email and we’ll tell you more about it, and send you some more pictures.
