15-17 August, 2008: 35th Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races, presented by Toyota
The Mazda Laguna Seca Raceway was the venue for America’s premier vintage racing event of the year. The featured marque was Alfa Romeo, and there was a special celebration of 50 years of Formula Junior. Guest of Honour of the event was Mario Andretti, and several of the many race cars he has driven were on display. Toyota provided a special display of some of their most famous racing sports cars, including the beautiful 2000GT, and one of Dan Gurney’s Toyota Eagle Mark IIIs which won the IMSA GTP Championship in both 1992 and 1993. The sun shone, there were lots of noisy, colourful cars, and plenty of close racing. What more could one ask for?
